Types of Female Modeling Jobs

Everyone believes all females models are like Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, or Naomi Campbell. Still, the truth is there are several types of well-known models that you may have overlooked that generate tremendous income. Most of them work on so-called “behind the scenes” fits, showrooms, and commercial models. They work in various companies; I can name a few here: pharmaceuticals, wellness, suppliers, manufacturers, airlines, and many others.

You can fall into these categories. It doesn’t matter if you can’t fall into the supermodel category. I’m going to list all the modeling types so you can identify yourself with one or more of them:

Fashion Editor

Fashion models, also known as editorial models, are the kinds of models you see in magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, etc. They work for top fashion designers like Prada, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, and Marc Jacobs. These professionals are 5′ 9″ to 6′ 0″ tall and very slim. Size is bust 33″, waist 23″, hips 33″.

Often, modeling agencies look for what they call the “complete package” when deciding whether they can be editorial models but don’t despair if you don’t meet the statistics they ask for.

Runway or catwalk.

These models used to be 5′ 9″, although 5′ 10″ and 5′ 11″ were considered much better. They had to be the right size, as they had to match the outfit. The designer was going to show them to each client. Most of the time, the measurement of this model is no more than 34 “x 23″ x 34”.

The designers hire models to fit the clothes they make for their respective collections, so they don’t make their clothes fit the model. The only exception to this rule is when the model is someone like Naomi Campbell.

Commercial

Such professionals can be of any age, height, or size. They can practically do anything, as long as it’s not related to what’s known as “high fashion.” Some examples are food products, technological devices, the travel industry, and so on.

More size.

This market has become a significant part of the fashion industry and commercial models. Fashion agencies have a special division for models like this. There is a very famous plus-size supermodel.

This type of professional is often defined by size rather than precise measurements, such as size 12. Size 12 is not considered a plus-size model in the real world, but in modeling, it is.

Petite.

This professional is usually 5′ 7″ or shorter. Often, these kinds of professionals don’t do runway work; they are ordered for underwear and swimwear and modeling spare parts. Because these professionals have smaller gloves and shoe sizes, they are hired as hand and foot models.

Underwear and swimwear

This professional is curvier and more exciting than the editorial model. Swimsuit models have a wide range of job possibilities; they are always hired to do swimsuit modeling. Underwear, summer wear, sleepwear, underwear, etc. They can also be other models, such as fit models.

Captivating.

Such professionals are often more curvy than editorial fashion models. They also work on swimwear and underwear models. Modeling type refers to the poses that models take in their photos, and glamor modeling is considered sexually suggestive and alluring compared to fashion modeling. Girls who pose for playboy magazines, for example, are glamorous models.

Fitness.

This type of professional is fit, athletic, and toned. Many of these models started as coaches or athletes and included a fitness model on their CV. They work for supplement manufacturers, athletic wear companies, and fitness companies. They are, most of the time, commercial models too.

Fit.

It’s important not to confuse these kinds of professionals with fitness models. Model fit works behind the scenes, and they work closely with garment manufacturers and fashion houses. These companies use this model to ensure that a true fit and size are maintained in what is known as the clotting process.

Garment manufacturing companies require different sizes and shapes of these models to fit their garments properly before reaching the final consumer.

If you are a woman who can maintain your size, this model is perfect for you.

Components of the body.

Such professionals work by modeling specific body parts such as feet, hands, eyes, and feet.

Hands can work for nails, jewelry, and also beauty-related products. Clients usually rent this model in film or print.

Feet: mainly employed by shoe companies and beauty and nail products. Also, elsewhere, perfect legs are needed.

Most of the time, petite models are employed as part models due to their smaller body parts.

Promotion

Such professionals promote services and products at trade shows, live events, and conventions. These girls should have friendly and outgoing personalities as well. They must understand the client’s product in-depth to explain it to the client and answer questions from potential customers.
